Wednesday Wishlist #1: Our Favourite Products This Week
If you're like us, a spot of virtual window shopping can be a welcome break from the constant grind. Consequently, our wishlist tends to run quite long, so here are some favourites as of late.
Editor’s note:
Our wishlist is always overflowing, and – unfortunately – we can’t buy everything. But if we can’t, you should. These picks are simply too good to go unpurchased. This is officially a weekly pulse, so keep an eye on your inboxes.
As the days get shorter, the autumn energy dissipates, and we lose the dopamine rush of the New York Marathon (whether as a participant or thankless supporter), we felt it was time to reveal some of our favourite picks getting us through the week and aiding our recovery.
Whether that’s rotting on the couch or keeping it moving while out and about, we’ve got everything to get you through the deepening winter slog. You’ve heard of retail therapy, this is retail recovery.
Nike Vaporfly 4 Pre-Montreal
A tribute to Nike’s Pre-Montreal, a shoe that was especially designed for Steve Prefontaine in the lead up to the 1976 Olympics, these Vaporfly’s embody that hard hustle that went into him setting the pace as one of the pre-eminent runners in the sport. Designed to match the original aesthetic, scuffs included, they incorporate the latest technology with true throwback energy.
The pair that just carried you to mile 26 is probably looking worse for wear. As you hang them up and thank them for their service, consider these as your next race-day partner.
Aeropress Clear Coffee Maker
We’ve really been trying to stop buying coffee while out and about. Admittedly, little progress is being made, but the recent addition of an Aeropress has kept us much more consistent at making our own – perfectly drinkable – brew at home. There’s something addictive about stacking it up and pushing the plunger down. It also makes decent coffee damn quickly, a necessity for getting through that winter and post-marathon recovery.
You can take it anywhere that has hot water, making it a handy travel option as well, especially when paired with some grind from our favourites, WatchHouse.
Hyperice X
We’ve been ranting about the next iteration of this bad boy for a few months now and with the old joints taking a battering as of late, the knee-focused option has been keenly sought after. Forget chucking a melting icepack on the aching spot – hot/cold settings are now delivered through tech magic. This version is now discounted as they roll out the X 2, so grab it while you can.
There’s also a shoulder variation for those that need it.
Cure Hydration: Ginger Turmeric
The battle of the electrolytes rages on. From Cadence to Sult, every man and his dog seems to be selling one at the moment. Cure is a brand that has drawn our interest recently because of one thing – this flavour. A welcome combination of a ginger and turmeric shot with electrolytes, it hits with a “spicy” blast that will also settle your stomach and rehydrate you after a run or sauna session.
G.H. Bass Suede Hiking Boots
Now let’s be honest. Post-marathon, with an increasingly cold and damp forecast, are you actually going to be hiking? Or are leisurely walks to the pub more realistic? Either way, these somewhat counterintuitive suede hiking boots from G.H. Bass (suede in the mud and rain?!) show that you’re ready to take on some distance while also looking stylish to boot. In fairness, we’re just diehard fans of the brand’s no fuss catalog of quality footwear that’ll keep you going.
Just make sure you drown them in suede protector.
Medik8 C-Tetra Serum
With the biting November wind assaulting our face with every step, the skin has really taken a beating as of recent. We’ve also completely lost our summer tan and look like ghosts right now, so anything that brightens and hydrates is a win. This vitamin C from Medik8 certainly does the job – lather it all over you for that winter glow-up.
Ralph Lauren PL Cooper Checked Cashmere-Flannel Shirt
When done right, flannel shirts are perhaps the perfect balance of rugged, relaxed comfort with an air of sartorial consideration – so why not step it up a notch with a cashmere option? This new beauty from Ralph Lauren’s Purple Label quietly says you’re a chill operator while also delivering the luxurious warmth and feel of woven cashmere. Canadian lumberjack or London PE bro? They’ll never know.
If PL’s a bit high-brow for you, this cotton-blend option from Drake’s or this from Portuguese Flannel will also do the trick.
